The higher your boat appears in search results, the more exposure it will get and the more chances you have to get inquiries and bookings. Our AI algorithm considers many factors to optimize the search results and show the best boats. To improve the position of a boat in search results, we recommend a few important things, as follows:
Get Reviews. As a general rule, good reviews bring in others, and this is the most genuine filter you can get. Reviews create confidence and a connection with previous or potential Renters, and also build up your vessel’s reputation, as well as yours. Reach out to your Renters and try to get as many Reviews and ratings as you can, they will definitely help in the long run.
Be Responsive and Quick. The red line to improving your bookings is to respond fast. The boat owners displayed on the first page of search results respond at a rate of 95-100% and within 1-3 hours, depending on location. Typically, they get the most bookings. You can think about it from a Renter perspective - you want that special boat, and you want it now. So, the faster you are to reply to an inquiry or question, the more chances you have to get that booking.
Post Many Hi-Res Photos. Renters want to see your boat in all its glory. General pictures are alright, but the details will, in fact, tip the balance. First things first: make sure to post hi-res pictures and to work the angles around your boat - deck, cabin, mast, beauty shots, they’re all going to help.
Next up, ask your Renters if it’s alright to take a few snaps while on the trip. Try to catch the fun moments, and when the trip is over make a selection together and ask for permission to post the pictures on your boat profile. Online privacy is important, thus you need to make sure you have their permission to use the photos.
Be Descriptive. Many Renters are really passionate about boats, so there’s a better chance of connecting with them just by updating your Boat Profile with accurate info. However, most Renters will appreciate details about the upcoming experience: trip itinerary, the places you will visit, things to see and do by boat on their trip, and all the available options. Summarize all of these in a beautiful description, and you’re one step closer to getting those bookings.
Calendar Availability. Always update your calendar according to your availability and schedule: this makes for an overall smooth booking process and assures the Renters that you are trustworthy and reliable. Otherwise, you may end up rejecting booking requests, which in turn will downrank your boat in search results.
Pricing. Before setting up a price for your listing, look around the platform for boats similar to yours. See other owners’ price margins, check out their amenities and extras, include add-ons, crew and captain fees, and draw a line. The total is subjective, but keep in mind that Renters may choose the average pricing.
Be professional. Your reviews and how you represent yourself reflect on Sailo, its staff, and its community. On that note, please treat your Renters with respect and have a professional attitude on each trip. Also, check your boat reviews as often as possible, and reach out to the Renter as soon as possible if you encounter complaints. You can always get in touch with us at support@sailo.com if things escalate: we are here to help, and when you win, we win.
